We hosted our first Crypto Night at Ripsaw Saloon in January 2026. Fourteen people showed up, three of them knew what a blockchain was, and the bartender asked if “Bitcoin” was a new cocktail. It wasn’t. But by the end of the night, we’d invented six low-calorie crypto-themed cocktails and learned that blockchain enthusiasts drink the same as everyone else — they just talk about hashing while they do it.

Quick Answer: Six low-calorie cocktails for your next crypto meetup, all under 150 calories. From the “Satoshi Shot” (78 cal) to the “Bull Run Mule” (142 cal). None of them require ingredients you can’t find at a Wisconsin liquor store. The recipes work whether your portfolio is up or down.

Why Low-Cal Cocktails for Crypto Night?

Because crypto meetups run 2-4 hours and nobody wants to be drunk by the keynote. We’ve hosted three Crypto Nights at Ripsaw now, and the pattern is consistent: people want to drink, but they also want to follow the conversation about decentralized finance. At 150 calories per drink, you can have three over four hours and stay under 500 calories total — which is less than one frozen daiquiri.

The Six Cocktails

1. The Satoshi Shot — 78 calories. 1.5 oz vodka, chilled, served neat in a shot glass with a lime wedge. Simple. Anonymous. Nobody knows who created it. $8 at Ripsaw.

2. The HODL Old Fashioned — 145 calories. 2 oz Korbel brandy + 0.1 oz simple + dash Angostura + orange twist. “HODL” stands for Hold On for Dear Life — which is what you do with this drink. It’s the Wisconsin standard, light version. Low sugar, high character.

3. The Bull Run Mule — 142 calories. 1.5 oz vodka + 0.5 oz lime juice + 4 oz diet ginger beer (Bundaberg Diet). Serve in a copper mug. When Bitcoin hits a new high, this is what you’re drinking. When it crashes, switch to the Bear Market below.

4. The Bear Market — 96 calories. 1.5 oz bourbon + dash Angostura bitters + soda water. No sugar, no sweetness, no optimism. Just bourbon, bitters, and the reality of your portfolio. Plain and simple.

5. The Gas Fee — 118 calories. 1 oz Campari + 1 oz sweet vermouth + soda water. Bitter, expensive-tasting, and leaves you wondering where your money went. Just like an Ethereum gas fee. The Americano cocktail renamed for accuracy.

6. The Moon Daiquiri — 143 calories. 2 oz white rum + 0.75 oz lime juice + 0.25 oz simple. The drink that goes up and never comes down — at least until you stand up. Three ingredients, no mixer, no blender. This is what Cubans drink, and they don’t use crypto.

Hosting Your Own Crypto Night

Here’s what we learned from hosting three of these at Ripsaw:

  • Keep it casual. No presentations, no slides. Just a table, some drinks, and a topic. The conversation drives itself.
  • Price the drinks normally. Don’t do “crypto pricing” or accept Bitcoin. People pay with cards. It’s a bar, not an exchange.
  • Pick a theme night. We did “DeFi Night” and “NFT Night” — the narrower the topic, the better the conversation.
  • Cap attendance at 20. More than that and it becomes a meetup, not a conversation. Our first night had 14, which was perfect.
  • Feed people. We did $5 fish fry bites. Crypto people eat more than they drink.

FAQ

What do crypto enthusiasts actually drink?

In our experience, the same thing everyone else drinks — Old Fashioneds, vodka sodas, and beer. The crypto-themed cocktails are a fun gimmick for the first round, but after that people order what they like. The low-cal angle works because most attendees are sitting for 2-4 hours.

How many calories should I budget for a 3-hour meetup?

At 150 calories per drink, three drinks over three hours is 450 calories — less than a single frozen daiquiri. That’s the whole point of the low-cal list: you can drink throughout the event without overdoing it.

Do I need a crypto theme to enjoy these cocktails?

No. These are just good low-calorie cocktails with fun names. The “Moon Daiquiri” is a traditional Cuban daiquiri. The “Bear Market” is bourbon and soda. The crypto angle is just branding.
