The Bloody Mary at Ripsaw Saloon: Pepper-Infused and No Nonsense
Wisconsin didn’t invent the Bloody Mary, but we sure as hell perfected it. Every bar in this state has one on the menu, and half of them are trying to turn it into a meal on a stick. Whole fried chickens, sliders, shrimp skewers, everything but the kitchen sink balanced on the rim of a glass.
That’s not what the Bloody Mary is about at Ripsaw Saloon. Ours comes with pepper-infused vodka if you ask for it, mixed right, no circus act required. Price County Fun.
What’s in It
The Ripsaw Bloody Mary is straightforward:
- Pepper-infused vodka, available on request. The infusion gives it a slow, building heat that hits the back of your throat about three sips in, which is exactly when you want it to.
- Standard Bloody Mary mix, tomato-based, seasoned, cold.
- Garnish, whatever’s behind the bar that day. We’re not promising a slideshow of toppings. We’re promising a drink that wakes you up.
This isn’t a contest Bloody Mary. It’s the one you order on a Sunday morning after the Packers game, or on a Friday night alongside the fish fry, or on a Tuesday (wait, we’re closed Tuesday. On a Wednesday) when you need something with more backbone than a beer.
Why Pepper-Infused Vodka
Regular vodka in a Bloody Mary is fine. It does the job. But pepper-infused vodka turns a Bloody Mary from a drink into a Wisconsin drink. The heat from the pepper works with the tomato and the seasoning in a way that regular vodka just doesn’t.
You don’t need to be told this if you’ve had one. You already know.
What to Pair It With
The Bloody Mary works with almost everything on the Ripsaw menu, but here are the power combos:
Friday Fish Fry + Bloody Mary. 2-piece ($9) or 3-piece ($11) fish, choice of fries or tots, tartar sauce, buttered bread. All fried in beef tallow. The Bloody Mary cuts through the richness of the tallow-fried fish and makes you want a second piece.
Cheese Curds + Bloody Mary. $6, comes with marinara or ranch. The Bloody Mary is the only drink that makes sense with fried cheese. Beer works too, but the Bloody Mary gives you something acidic to balance the fat.
Wings + Bloody Mary. Basket for $8 (with fries or tots), or $1 each. Nine sauces available. If you get the hot or garlic parmesan wings, the Bloody Mary is your friend. If you got the sweet and sour wings, maybe order an Old Fashioned instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Bloody Mary at Ripsaw Saloon different?
Ripsaw Saloon’s Bloody Mary is pepper-infused and no-nonsense — a straightforward, properly spiced drink at $5 as of May 2026, not a meal on a stick. Unlike the trend of stacking entire lunch buffets on top of Bloody Marys, this one focuses on the drink itself: pepper-infused vodka, a solid tomato base, and classic garnishes that complement rather than overshadow the cocktail.
Why do Wisconsin Bloody Marys have so many garnishes?
The Wisconsin Bloody Mary garnish tradition started as a way for bars to offer a free snack with your drink, but it escalated into a statewide competition. Some Milwaukee and Madison bars top their Bloody Marys with whole fried chickens, sliders, or shrimp skewers. Ripsaw Saloon takes the opposite approach — keeping the garnish sensible so the $5 drink itself stays the focus.
What’s pepper-infused vodka and how is it made?
Pepper-infused vodka is made by steeping fresh
Pepper-infused vodka is made by steeping fresh jalapeño or chili peppers in vodka for several days to weeks, extracting the capsaicin and pepper flavor directly into the spirit. The result adds a natural heat to the Bloody Mary that complements the tomato base without needing hot sauce overload. It’s a technique more northwoods bars are adopting as Bloody Mary culture continues to evolve in Wisconsin.
Can you get a Bloody Mary at any time of day in Wisconsin?
Yes, and nobody will judge you for it. Wisconsin Bloody Mary culture doesn’t restrict the drink to brunch hours — it’s acceptable as an opener, a game-day drink, or a nightcap. At Ripsaw Saloon, the Bloody Mary is available whenever the bar is open, which means 2 PM onward on operating days and noon on Packers Sundays.
What’s the standard price for a Bloody Mary in Wisconsin?
A standard Bloody Mary in Wisconsin costs $5-8 as of 2026, with elaborate garnish versions running $10-15 at places that treat it like a full meal. Ripsaw Saloon’s pepper-infused Bloody Mary is $5 — priced for regulars who drink them by the round, not tourists looking for Instagram content.
